I have been keeping up with the grand illusion mystery by Bonnie Hunter. I was happy to have such easy weeks during the Christmas season. We had three of our kids and spouses home for Christmas. this was our first Christmas here since we moved here in May. I think we will be able to build some great memories here. The first one of setting off fireworks on Christmas eve. My oldest daughter in Oregon didn't like to see what she missed when her sister posted a picture on Instagram. This weeks mystery was four patches. I never have really figured out how to twist the seams, then checked out Bonnie's blog post. If you notice on the picture, they worked! I was very happy. I also noticed that I have the same yellow fabric as Bonnie. I bought mine on a clearance rack at a quilt store in southern MN, the calico Hutch. Can't wait until we get the next clue!

Grand illusion mystery clue 3

I finished clue 3 yesterday. Last week I finished clue #2 on Thursday night. Too late to make the Monday linkup deadline. So I took a picture with my clue 3 and clue 2 together with a small sampling on clue one on the bottom. I like looking at the link-ups with ideas on how it might be put together. I think there is a lot of imagination in this group! I am happy to use up lots of small scraps in the greens and pinks that I had laying around. I have made a lot of kids quilts with these colors. After moving to a new home and realizing my stash filled our living room when we moved out... I realize it is time to use my stash, not just admire it! Grand illusion mystery 2014

My friend hooked me up with Bonnie Hunters Quiltville.com web site and asked me to do the 2014 mystery. I am excited to work on this because I was able to use so much fabric from my stash! I only had to buy the yellow constant because my yellows didn't have enough yardage. I got my first step done this morning while watching an October Quilt cam. I sewed last night and watched Bonnie on Quilt cam too. I haven't gotten gutsy enough to send in any texts. But, I thought I would try a blog for this purpose. So, here it goes, I took pictures of my fabric after cutting for the first step. And I have my blocks all done and on my ironing board. Ready for Friday's next clue. In the meantime I will fix and few long johns for DH and finish the two queen size quilts i quilted the weekend before thanksgiving at my sisterinlaws. Moving to MN

My dear husband had an idea in 2008, he pitched this idea to me that summer and brought me to his grandparents farm and brought me into the hay mow portion of the barn. His idea: make this into living quarters. the bottom of the barn was logs and those were rotting. Fast forward to May 2014, we have made the move. I looked at my dh last night and said "we have already been here 6 months". Boy time flys!
